Project

Correlates and outcomes of digital technology use by young children: phase 1

Overview

This first phase of this project will capture what is known about the correlates and outcomes of digital technology use by young children. The project will synthesise what is known about current technology use by young children and potential child, family and wider environment correlates and child health, wellbeing and developmental outcomes. The findings will inform future research to enhance the understanding of factors related to technology use and support evidence-based guidance.

Project aims

  • summarise available evidence on correlates and outcomes of digital technology use by young children
  • investigate correlates and outcomes of digital technology use by young children using existing datasets

Project design

This project involves identification of the need for and conduct of systematic reviews (or other review approaches) that summarise the available evidence on the correlates and outcomes related to digital technology use by young children. We will also investigate correlates and outcomes of digital technology use by young children using data collected as part of pre-existing projects.
