Dr Danica Hendry is a physiotherapist and Research Fellow based at Curtin University. Danica will explore how young children engage with digital technologies and the impacts this may have on their physical health, particularly their movement and posture. Her PhD project employed the use of machine learning models applied to wearable sensor data to allow for the recognition of specific movement tasks, allowing for collection of movement quantity and quality in field-based studies. She presented findings of this research as part of an invited symposium at the International Society of Biomechanics and American Society of Biomechanics conference in 2018. Danica hopes that as technology continues to evolve and develop that children continue to be provided the opportunity to harness the potential benefits of the technological world.
