Dr Guy Healy

Dr Guy Healy provides research assistance to investigators on projects in the Connected Child program. Guy brings to the Centre experience working as a Research Assistant on a range of digital media research projects, including Valuing the Web-Series: Economic, Industrial, Cultural and Social Value, an ARC Linkage project led by University of Wollongong and QUT. Guy was a nominee for the 2020 QUT Creative Industries Outstanding Doctoral Thesis Award for his project Australian YouTubers: A deep dive among the disruptors. Guy’s forthcoming book Production of Global Web-Series in a Digital Age for the Routledge Research in the Creative and Cultural Industries series will be published in 2022.

Earliest digital memory
An odd square box on a table at school connected to a couple of cords which high achieving peers would gather around and play with at lunch. But it didn’t shape my life until I started work as a bush reporter and we would be sent press statements by ministers as faxes, and later have our stories digitised for transmission to press outlets interstate in the early 1990s.
