Dr Tebeje Molla

With special attention to equity implications, as an Associate Investigator at the Centre,  Dr Tebeje Molla will investigate how African heritage families view and manage their children’s everyday digital engagement and learning. The project will be informed by an educational engagement framework and aims to ensure that all African heritage families can navigate the digital educational landscape and engage in their children’s learning.

Tebeje was awarded a 2022 ARC Future Fellowship for his project ‘Improving School Engagement of African Refugee Students’. In 2021, he was awarded a Mid-Career Researcher Award for Career Excellence by the Faculty of Arts and Education, Deakin University.

Earliest digital memory
Using a computer to type my final year essay. It was in 2004 at Bahir Dar University, Ethiopia. I remember being fascinated by the options to delete words and undo changes. Soon after that experience, I created my first email address and started surfing the internet.
