Emily Westwood

Emily Westwood’s PhD examines the significance of light in childhood health and behaviour. In 2021, Emily was awarded a prestigious Fullbright Future Postgraduate Scholarship to work with research leaders in sleep and development at the University of Colorado, Boulder. Emily hopes her work with the Centre will help children benefit from the learning and social opportunities of digital technology with positive and healthy experiences.

Earliest digital memory
I was 9 years old and given my cousin’s hand-me-down computer. I immediately found the recycling bin and read her diary. I’m always mindful of where I put my private information.

More People

The Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence for the Digital Child acknowledges the First Australian owners of the lands on where we gather and pay our respects to the Elders, lores, customs and creation spirits of this country.

The Centre recognises that the examples we set in diversity and inclusion will support young children to respect and celebrate differences in all people. We embed diversity, inclusivity and equality into all aspects of the Centre’s activities and welcome all people regardless of race, ethnicity, social background, religion, gender, age, disability, sexual orientation and national origin.
