Profile

Pernilla Miller

Pernilla’s career experience has always been underpinned by a drive to support young children and their futures. An experienced administrator and research assistant, Pernilla brings to the Centre more than 10 years’ experience working in education research environments, including recent roles in QUT’s School of Early Childhood and Inclusive Education. Pernilla is also a registered teacher in Australia and taught at a primary school in Sweden for five years, bringing valuable insight into the needs of young children.

As Centre Coordinator, Pernilla is the backbone of the Centre, organising and planning day-to-day operations to ensure the Centre runs efficiently and smoothly. Pernilla hopes that young children can use any technology available to them to do amazing and innovative things, and that the Internet will be a safe place for them to play, learn and connect.

The family getting our very first (fat screen!) computer and the ongoing negotiations with my sister and brother for our turn to play Tetris or Pac-Man.

The Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence for the Digital Child acknowledges the First Australian owners of the lands on where we gather and pay our respects to the Elders, lores, customs and creation spirits of this country.

The Centre recognises that the examples we set in diversity and inclusion will support young children to respect and celebrate differences in all people. We embed diversity, inclusivity and equality into all aspects of the Centre’s activities and welcome all people regardless of race, ethnicity, social background, religion, gender, age, disability, sexual orientation and national origin.
