Professor Ola Erstad

Professor Ola Erstad is a leading international researcher on digital literacy, but firmly rooted in the wider social and cultural context of learning beyond the technological aspects. Ola has spent his career investigating the impact of various digital technologies on children’s education and curriculum. He has a long-standing record of leading collective research efforts, with an international impact in the field of media and digital literacy. As Head of Research at the National Center for Information and Communication Technology in Education, Ola made important contributions in developing research-based knowledge on technology and education and was leader of key national projects for developing the use of ICT in Norwegian schools. Since 2015, Ola has been Vice-Chair of a COST Action on digital literacy and multimodality in early childhood. Ola is widely published in the field, including co-editing The Routledge Handbook of Digital Literacies in Early Childhood.
